Hospital Birth with Midwifery Care
The midwives at Genesis Midwives have privileges at WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital). We can assess you in triage, admit you in labour, and discharge home you and your baby after your birth.
Some women hope to have pharmacologic pain relief to assist with labour pains, such as an epidural. While this was once a transfer of care to the obstetrical team, midwives no longer need to transfer care if you would like an epidural.
Some women may hope to have a homebirth and have complications that mean we recommend a hospital birth, or may choose to have a hospital birth but want as natural a birth as possible. Your midwives support however you choose to give birth, and can help make the hospital experience as comfortable and "home-like" as possible.
